Vaccine Recommendations for Adolescents and Young Adults (June 2019)
CCPA Purchasing Partners and Pfizer would like to remind our members to educate your adolescent and young adult patients and their caregivers about the vaccines recommended for 16 year olds by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These immunizations are also recommended and endorsed by the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) and the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC).
Serogroup B meningococcal disease (MenB)* vaccination is included in this 16 year-old immunization platform given that age 16 is the first year patients are recommended for immunization according to ACIP guidance for healthy patients aged 16-23. In addition, MCV4, any recommended vaccines or doses not given previously (eg, Tdap, HPV, MMR, varicella, hepatitis A, and hepatitis B vaccines), and the seasonal influenza vaccine are also recommended for your 16 year old patients.
Pfizer has developed the following resources to help you inform your patients and their caregivers about these recommended vaccines.
• 16-Year-Old Platform Poster: Details the vaccinations recommended for 16 year old patients by the IAC and SAHM
• MenB Dual-Language Tearpad: Use this resource to help begin the conversation about MenB vaccination with your patients and caregivers.
Please contact your Pfizer Vaccines Representative with any questions or to request these resources. You may also contact Pfizer's customer service at 800.666.7248.
